FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
We've compiled a list of the most Frequently Asked Questions about MyPacifier.com, personalized pacifiers and pacifiers in general. Even more exciting...here we also provide some our responses, or FAQR! We appreciate that you are a consciencious, careful shopper when it comes to baby. We hope you find this information helpful.
- Have MyPacifiers been recalled?
No! Concerned customers have brought to our attention that our competitor at itsmybinky.com, now doing business as personalizedpacifiers.com, has a recall for over 100,000 of their Malaysian-made pacifiers for a potential choking hazard. Further information on their recall is available at ConsumerAffairs.com. MyPacifier.com has NO affiliation with this company and our products are NOT being recalled. You can expect nothing but the best quality and safest products when purchasing from us (as well as having the most choices!).
- What methods of payment do you accept?
Please see our How to buy page for details on how to buy MyPacifier Personalized Pacifiers.
- Why does it take "approximately two weeks" for delivery?
Once you've placed your order, we have the great challenge of making them and getting them to you as quickly as possible. If the name isn't in stock (top 100 baby names in Deluxe Orthodontic and infant pacifiers), MyPacifier Personalized Pacifiers must be custom-made especially for you. Our partners in Europe imprint the text on the MyPacifier Personalized Pacifiers, along with 1,000s of other pacifiers each day! Once they have finished imprinting them, they carefully package the MyPacifiers along with instructions, then ship them off to MyPacifier.com here in California. Importing from Europe is the reason for so taking a bit longer to get this product to you, but the result is a very high-quality product you and baby will enjoy. When the personalized pacifiers arrive at MyPacifier.com, we immediately match them up with the invoices and mail them directly to you using Stamps.com and USPS. Deliveries take approximately two weeks, which means many times you can get them in less than two weeks, but also sometimes it takes a bit longer. We appreciate your patience and are continually working to quicken the process.
- I need pacifiers for a baby shower sooner than two weeks, is there anything you can do?
If the baby's name isn't in the top 100 baby names, we can't promise that you'll get your MyPacifier personalized pacifiers in less than two weeks. However, we do carry a line of Gift-Ready MyPacifiers with cute phrases on them, ready to ship right away. Have a look at our Gift-Ready MyPacifier list of phrases, guaranteed to bring a smile at the gifting event! We also carry Designer Pacifiers, ready to ship immediately upon your purchase. Click on the Designer Pacifiers tab in our MyPacifier.com shop.
- I'm buying these as a gift, can you include a gift card?
Certainly! Just e-mail us after you make your purchase and tell us what you want the card to say. If you prefer that we don't send the invoice to the gift recipient, tell us that too.
- I don't live in the USA, can you ship to me?
If your delivery address will be outside the USA, be sure to check the flags at the top right of our MyPacifier.com website for our constantly-growing partner distributors. If you don't see your nation's flag there, please e-mail our partners at Navnesutten at kontakt@navnesutten.dk and ask if it is possible to purchase directly from them.
- Which is better, silicone or latex?
Both silicone and latex pacifier nipples have advantages, and what's best decision is best left up to baby. Silicone is a bit stiffer and sturdier, will not retain odors, and cleans up easily. Silicone is also harder for baby to bite through. Latex is a bit softer, and perhaps a bit more natural in feel than silicone. Latex is soft in baby's mouth and baby may like the way it retains scents. The down side is that latex doesn't hold up as well to repeated cleanings. Little one's teeth can chew through it quicker. Interestingly, we have found that Europeans tend to buy latex pacifiers more, while Americans prefer silicone nipples on their personalized pacifiers. In either case, if baby likes them, that's the best choice!
- Why can't I mix and match colors?
Due to the complexity of keeping track of thousands of personalized pacifiers, all custom-imprinted with different names for different customers, we arent currently set up for accepting individual mix-and-match orders. We have our hands full as it is, as you might imagine! When we opened MyPacifier.com in 2006, we only offered four different MyPacifier Personalized Pacifier sets, with only two color set choices. As you can see in our current online shop, we now have many, many more sets to pick from. We do encourage you to come back and visit MyPacifier.com periodically; because we are never finished with adding new choices! We certainly appreciate your inquiry/request, because we use customer input to help us select new styles and colors.
- Can I buy just one MyPacifier Personalized Pacifier?
At this time, we dont sell individual MyPacifier Personalized Pacifiers. This is due to the complexity of the imprint machinery set up, importing and then having to package them and ship to you. We wouldnt be able to sell them for $5 each and make even a dime. As you might imagine, it is already considerable amount of work to produce thousands of these custom-made products, each set being different for each customer. For us to break even, currently we have to produce more than one at a time per name. We think $15 is still a VERY good price for a custom-made personalized item! Its certainly in the baby shower gift category of pricing (and there are discounts when you buy more than one packet at a time). While we don't sell personalized pacifiers one at a time, we do sell our Designer Pacifiers individually. Just click on the Designer Pacifier tab in our MyPacifier.com Shop.
- Why was my credit card purchase declined?
Bank safety measures are very stringent. For example, if you put in a cell phone number instead of your home phone number, the purchase may be declined. This is also true for your home mailing address. Everything has to match exactly with the information you have provided your bank. If you have moved, changed your phone number, or any other information, make sure your credit card company has the latest information. We hope you try to purchase again, as many times a declined purchase is the result of a simple typo or incorrect information input.
- My first attempt to buy MyPacifier personalized pacifiers online was declined, so why does the $ amount still show on my bank statement as a charge?
Sometimes failed purchase attempts show up on your statement, much to our dismay. The listed amounts will expire, they are not charges. In those cases, we haven't received any of your money, they are only pending. This can be verified with your credit card company or bank. MyPacifier.com only completes the charge at the time of shipment. Rest assured, the charges will expire since we didn't receive the order. This can be verified with your credit card company or bank.
- Water gets inside the nipple of the MyPacifiers, is this a defect?
The vast majority of all pacifiers in the world market are 'air vent pacifiers.' That air vent is what has allowed water inside the nipple and it is perfectly normal. The pacifiers must be able to take in air and water to prevent children from developing bad tooth positioning. If water gets into the nipple during boiling, it can be gently pressed out afterwards and the nipple will fill with air again. MyPacifier Personalized Pacifiers were developed by a young mother trying to prevent germ-sharing for her children. She wanted the very best for them and her customers. She was very careful about the selection of which pacifier products she wanted to imprint for MyPacifiers. Our manufacturer's pacifiers have won numerous awards for being amongst the best in the world.
- Are the materials in MyPacifier Personalized Pacifiers safe?
MyPacifiers were invented by one of my family members in Denmark, Pia Callesen. Pia initially invented them for her own children, and therefore she picked the highest qualified manufacturers to produce for MyPacifiers. In fact, the producers have won awards for their safe, high-quality pacifiers. The pacifiers are made up of pure Polypropylene or Polycarbonate plastics, and the parts are welded together using ultrasound waves, no glue or anything else is added. The name is permanently engraved in the pacifier, and no chemicals are added in this process either. The mouthpieces are made of 100% pure latex or silicone. All pacifiers are EN Standard 1400 approved and exceed quality standards set by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commissions Requirements for Pacifiers (16 C.F.R. Part 1511).
- Are MyPacifiers BPA-free?
Bisphenol A (BPA), is getting a lot of attention in the press recently. Some retail outlets in the USA are phasing out plastic baby bottles and all baby feeding products containing Bisphenol A (BPA). MyPacifier.com does not sell baby bottles or any other baby feeding products, our products are personalized pacifiers. Why would this make any difference? BPA is in all Polycarbonate products and therefore also in some of our pacifiers listed with Polycarbonate as an ingredient (ingredients are listed on each MyPacifier.com Shop pacifier product page).
The research getting all the press attention has shown that BPA is only a concern when baby bottles are heated time and time again over an extended period of time. This takes place over the two-to-three year life cycle of baby bottles. During this period, research has shown that BPA can go directly from the bottle into the milk which the baby drinks. On the other hand, pacifiers have much shorter lifespan than baby bottles (see our directions) and therefore BPA release is not an issue. No research to date has shown any hazard of BPA release through pacifier use. Our pacifiers are made by the best pacifier manufacturers in Europe, companies that have won numerous awards for high quality. Safety of their products is of the utmost concern for those companies and ours.
If you are still concerned about BPA and polycarbonate in pacifiers, please note that many of our preferred MyPacifier Personalized Pacifiers are made of pure Polypropylene plastic, with no Polycarbonate whatsoever. Each pacifier product page lists ingredients in our MyPacifier.com Shop, and you can clearly see which ones contain Polycarbonate or Polypropylene. Our BPA-free Polypropylene pacifiers are the Deluxe Orthodontic MyPacifiers, Round MyPacifiers, Symmetrical MyPacifiers in boy and girl colors, and our white Infant MyPacifiers. We certainly appreciate your concern for your babys safety, and MyPacifier.com is dedicated to providing the safest and highest quality pacifiers available on the market. We not only sell MyPacifier Personalized Pacifers to you, we use them extensively within our own family.
